Chakras, otherwise
knows as the energy centers of the human body, have the function of
grounding spiritual energies into the physical plane. There are seven
chakras altogether, and these are:
The Root Chakra –is our connection to the earth and the physical plane
and a symbol of our basic survival needs (location: base of the spine)
The Second Chakra –is representative of our creative and procreative
urges and drives, including sexuality (location: the genitals)
The Third Chakra –is the energy center for power and manifestation
(location: solar plexus)
The Fourth Chakra – is the energy center for love, both human and
divine (location: heart)
The Fifth Chakra – is the center for expression and communication
(location: throat)
The Sixth Chakra – is the center for our psychic powers (location:
third eye just above and between the eyebrows)
The Crown Chakra – otherwise known as he 1,000 petaled lotus flower is
our connection with the Cosmic or the divine (location: top of the
head)
The chakras are
described in the tantric texts the Sat-Cakra-Nirupana, and the
Padaka-Pancaka, in which they are described as emanations of
consciousness from Brahman, an energy emanating from the spiritual
which gradually turns concrete, creating these distinct levels of
chakras, and which eventually finds its rest in the Muladhara chakra.
They are therefore part of an emanationist theory, like that of the
kabbalah in the west, lataif-e-sitta in Sufism or neo-platonism. The
energy that was unleashed in creation, called the Kundalini, lies
coiled and sleeping at the base of the spine. It is the purpose of the
tantric or kundalini forms of yoga to arouse this energy, and cause it
to rise back up through the increasingly subtler chakras, until union
with God is achieved in the Sahasrara chakra at the crown of the head.
While we cannot provide
scientific evidence of the efficacy of any Crystal Healing treatment,
it should be noted that meditation and self-hypnosis, which factor
heavily in the practice of Crystal Healing, are endorsed and
encouraged by many physicians and hospitals as beneficial
accompaniments to the treatment of illnesses and behaviors such as
cancer, smoking and over-eating. Indeed, there is evidence that
sufficient belief in a course of treatment is often enough to effect
relief. This is known as the Placebo Effect, and appears to be very
powerful, since it involves the mind's natural ability to aid in the
healing process of the body.
Officially and legally, however,
Crystal Healing must remain, for the
time being, in the realm of "entertainment," and we must issue you
this advisory:
